Using coils, the shell of the torso and head will be constructed. We will explore ways of developing personal symbols to allow figurative works to have meaning and metaphor. After constructions, the surfaces will be treated with dry clays, engobes and underglazes. Demos include face features and a painterly approach to the surface.

The Narrative Figure: As The Figurine

Using either coil or modeling from a dowel, a pair of figurines will be created. The gesture is frozen and tells a story. These figures will hold metaphors that could be expressed by mark making, use of color or additive parts. Demos will include ways to construct and a painterly approach to a wet surface.
